Weston McKennie’s permanent address is now located in Turin, Italy.

Serie A giants Juventus on Wednesday exercised a $ 22 million option in their loan deal with German Bundesliga team Schalke to keep the United States men’s national team midfielder at the Allianz stadium until June 2025.

McKennie’s permanent transfer to the Bianconeri is well deserved. Joined the club on loan at the end of August, the 22-year-old midfielder shone for Andrea Pirlo’s side, making 31 appearances in all competitions while registering five goals and two assists.

Coming from former US Soccer Development Academy team FC Dallas, McKennie’s four goals in just over half a season already make him the all-time leading scorer among the players in the USMNT in the Italian elite. He also played a vital role in helping Juventus finish atop their Champions League group, scoring a remarkable goal in a 3-0 group stage victory over Barcelona on December 9.

Most recently, McKennie won the first trophy of his professional career, helping Juventus defeat Napoli 2-0 in the Italian Super Cup on January 20. A month earlier, his play for club and country had helped him win the 2020 American Football Player of the Year award.
