The Connecticut District Export Council and the Connecticut office of the US Commercial Service are hosting a free webinar on foreign trade zones on October 21.

The 90-minute webinar is scheduled for 1 p.m. and is part of a series for Manufacturing Month that aims to provide valuable information on a variety of export-related topics.

The FTZ program is designed to boost the competitiveness of US companies in the global economy by encouraging activity and value addition in US facilities competing with foreign alternatives.

The program allows delayed or reduced duty payments on foreign goods, reduced tax payments and other savings for businesses.

Free zones help create and maintain jobs, encourage investment, improve competitiveness, lower costs, and provide a great advantage to businesses in Connecticut.
