Here are the headlines from your Arsenal party on Thursday 11 February 2021.
William Saliba found himself in the midst of controversy this week after quotes emerged that he felt he was tried too quickly by Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta on his return from Saint-Etienne’s last summer.
“It is clear that so much has changed in the past year,” said Saliba. CMR. “When I saw that the coach had changed, a lot of things changed for me too. This year there have been a lot of changes.
“He judged me on two and a half matches. I would have liked him to play me more. But he told me I was not ready.
“I was waiting for him to give me a chance, but football is like that.”
While these comments may be damaging, it should be remembered that after the 19-year-old was loaned to Nice in early January, the Gunners boss has already signaled his intention to bring Saliba back to his squad for next season.
“He will be back for the preseason and he will be with us,” said the Spaniard. “I hope he will come back after having played several games and his performances have improved and his development is progressing in the right direction. That is why we have made this decision.
“I know it is sometimes difficult to explain or understand after the money the club has spent trying to bring it in, send it on loan.”
Arsenal welcome Leeds United to Emirates Stadium in a huge Premier League clash, but manager Arteta will be without two key first-team players.
Thomas Partey suffered hamstring strain in the 1-0 loss to Aston Villa last week and was ruled out of the game against Leeds.
“Thomas suffered a strain in his left hamstrings during last Saturday’s game at Aston Villa and will miss the game against Leeds United on Sunday”, Arsenal have revealed. “Thomas will continue to be evaluated and to recover from this injury.”
Partey will be joined on the sidelines by Kieran Tierney who has not played since the 3-0 Premier League win over Newcastle United last month.
The Scotland international is recovering well from a leg injury, but Sunday’s game comes too early for his return.
“Kieran is recovering well from tension in his lower right leg and aims to return to training next week,” the injury update added.

Leeds set to beat Arsenal
Leeds United face Arsenal at just the right time, according to Vinnie Jones who tilts his former club to win all three points at Emirates Stadium.
“The Bielsa boys face Arsenal this week and I think they have the Gunners at the right time,” he said, as reported by Paris live.
“North Londoners are struggling right now having had some good wins – and so have been for so many teams this season. Except (Manchester) City.”
